CloudCheckr is busy next week, as we head to two of the biggest events in the public cloud and IT security space: AWS Public Sector Summit, and Gartner’s Security & Risk Management Summit. Hosted in Washington, D.C., both events promise to highlight many topics of interest to organizations in federal and highly regulated industries. We’re looking forward to participating in discussions about the trends, challenges, and best practices of managing cloud security and cost in government, education, and nonprofit organizations.
AWS Public Sector Summit
AWS GovCloud offers exceptional opportunities for government agencies and organizations to innovate faster. However, as government budgets and compliance standards are strained by the agile and pay-as-you-go nature of the cloud, many seek additional guidance and tools to leverage the public cloud for effectively. At this year’s Public Sector Summit, a range of sessions offer expert insights for accelerating government cloud initiatives while remaining compliant and budget-conscious.
CloudCheckr will be speaking to both topics in a few sessions, including:
Monday, June 12 (3:20-3:50PM): DFARS Workshop
The Defense Federal Acquisition Regulation Supplement (DFARS) is a supplement to the FAR that provides Department of Defense-specific acquisition regulations that DoD government acquisition officials and contractors doing business with DoD must follow in the procurement process for goods and services. This session will gather AWS partners, including CloudCheckr, Allgress, CIS, OKTA, and more to discuss the implications of meeting DFARS with AWS.
Wednesday, June 14 (2-2:50PM in Room 207A): Hackproof Your GovCloud: Mitigating Risks for 2017 and Beyond
Destructive and wasteful data hacks are serious business—especially in the fed space. CloudCheckr Co-Founder & CEO Aaron Newman will highlight effective strategies and tools that AWS users can immediately employ to improve their security posture for GovCloud.
Wednesday, June 14 (3-3:50PM in Room 207A): Cost Efficiency Panel
Managing budget is a critical task in highly regulated industries like government. The Cost Efficiency discussion gathers leaders from CloudCheckr, AWS, City of Chicago, State of Minnesota, and DigitalGlobe to share solutions to avoid unnecessary costs, optimize costs, and select the appropriate architecture for maximum efficiency.
We will also be presenting a brief technical talk on leveraging the cloud to drive mission critical government initiatives on a budget. Be sure to block some time off in your Summit schedule and swing by any (or all!) of our sessions. The discussions are sure to be lively!
If you’re looking for some one-on-one time with one of our cloud experts, swing by our booth (#512) or reach out to set up a meeting.
Gartner Security & Risk Management Summit
Meanwhile, other CloudCheckr team members will be across town at the Gartner Summit, ready to discuss and learn about current issues facing global business leaders. Topics at the summit include the changing shape of data security threats, architectures to scale through digital transformation, strategies to assure governance, and emerging roles tasked with enabling security and compliance within their organizations.
As we are always busy thinking about what it means to hackproof enterprise organizations, we are especially looking forward to hearing analyst and expert insights about what security means in the changing digital landscape.
While we won’t be presenting at Gartner, we’re always happy to discuss cloud security and compliance tactics, best practices, and more. Swing by our booth (#938) or drop us a line—we’d love to meet up.
We hope to see you in D.C.!
