Ask Me Anything: Cloud Cost, Security, and Utilization with CloudCheckr Director of Products Travis Rehl

Even with the explosive growth of cloud computing, the vast majority of companies in a cloud transformation are facing challenges in their public cloud adoption—94% of companies in fact—according to our 2017 Cloud Management Report. We want to change that. That’s why we’re fired up to host our first-ever Reddit AMA.

AMA stands for “Ask Me Anything” on the popular community site Reddit. In an AMA, a subject matter expert hosts an open Q&A interview with members of the Reddit community on a specific topic. You can find examples on the r/IAmA/ subreddit, which currently has over 17 million subscribers.

During our AMA, we’ll do our best to answer as many cloud-related questions as possible. To keep it focused, the best questions to pose will be on the topics of cloud migration, security, cost management, multi-account management, cloud infrastructure reporting, capacity and utilization monitoring, and best practices for federal agency compliance. What is cloud management?

Cloud computing has shifted from being a disruptive force to becoming the new normal in today’s business world. But with this rapid adoption has come a series of growing pains. Most enterprises have not yet optimized their cloud ecosystem, which holds them back from maximizing the potential benefits of their investment in public cloud infrastructure.

CloudCheckr is a comprehensive cloud management solution created to help businesses manage and automate cost as well as security for their public cloud environments. We are an AWS Advanced Technology Partner with Security and Government competencies, as well as a certified Silver Partner with Azure. We aim to support multi- or hybrid-cloud strategies.

To do it, we created the CloudCheckr platform. It provides teams with actionable insights by reporting, alerting, analyzing, and automating the environment for optimal utilization, cost, and security. We offer more than 550 Best Practice Checks that optimize and automate an organization’s cloud resources.

Our teams have been hard at work to create the best tools for cloud management — but we need downtime, too! Reddit is the go-to place for many folks on our team to engage, learn, and unwind. Plus we try to help out in cloud-focused subreddits when we can.
